Website updates: Improving performance and hoping not to mess things up
20/4/2026
It's time for another website update post. This time, I've focused on improving the website's core functionality because, with the server I can afford, I have to take website optimization to an almost obsessive level if I want to add new features in the future. I've been working on what would be my eighth version of the website engine to improve performance for both registered and unregistered users. This is one of the things I'm a little worried about because I only have four devices to test on, and the chances of messing things up are very high. If you have any older devices that are causing problems, please email me at admin@pepe.deals with any additional information you can provide.
I don't want to bore you with technical details because that's not my style, and besides, you have the source code in the footer. But to give you an idea, even if you don't have development knowledge, I've done a comparison using Google's PageSpeed Insights tool, using the Satisfactory game page as an example, compared to my rivals (all four are companies, and I'm just a single person working on this in my free time):
As you can see, my website reaches quadruple 100 in games. On the homepage and other sections of my website, the analytics hovers around 90/100/100/100 because I can't afford to host images. However, I'm certain that even with this data, Google will continue to ignore my site because I can't afford to pay other media outlets to cover it, and I need your support to help it grow in that regard.
Looking ahead, while I can't guarantee anything, but I'm working on supporting group buys of bundles and unofficial stores. But I'm finding it incredibly difficult to come up with a user-friendly design for both. For example, I'm considering clearly differentiating between marketplaces and unofficial stores. That would mean displaying three minimum prices for each game and each DRM, and it's mind-blowing to figure out how to display that on huge screens and smartphones.
And that's all for now. I'll write another post when I have something to share.
