Website updates: New notifications for bundles, interface changes, and a possible domain change
11/11/2025
It's been a while since I wrote a website update post, and it's about time. The most obvious change you've probably noticed is the interface update, which I've been rolling out gradually, but now I'll explain the changes in detail since the last post.
New email notifications for your wishlist that appear in bundles. As I mentioned in the previous post, I was going to work on improving the wishlist feature. This has been a slow process because I've been testing with games that have been appearing in bundles, and while doing this, I've also been implementing an "email aggregator." Let me explain: if two or more of your wishlist games appear in a bundle, instead of sending you two emails, I'll only send you one. I've also implemented this feature with historical lows; it was frankly very tedious to implement, but I saw it as necessary when my email server crashes sending 20 emails at once.
Changes to the homepage and games. You may have noticed changes to the interface towards a grayish tone, and although it remains essentially the same, I've worked a lot on the behind-the-scenes aspects. As an interesting detail, on the homepage I've implemented an "Add to Wishlist" button for featured games, and the new historical lows list also has a button, although you have to hover your mouse over it to access it. On both the homepage and the games, I've discarded internal code to rewrite it and improve performance on both the server and your web browsers. I won't bore you with technical details, but you'll especially notice the performance improvement when you're logged in.
And last but not least, since the website's sinking in Google search results in September, I've been seriously considering changing the domain. After speaking with several people in the industry, they all agree that the website has been the target of a negative SEO attack, which involves linking a website to a bunch of websites with a bad reputation so that search engines like Google or Bing consider it fraudulent. The only way to fix this is to become president of Google or buy another domain, so I've bought a domain and created a simultaneous copy of the website to see how well Google indexes it. If I see that Google behaves well at the end of the month, I'll announce the change, and you'll only have to change the domain in your favorites because the accounts will be preserved.
