Updates on the website and the extension, plus my take on what happened at IndieGala

13/3/2025
Background
I'm getting back on track with development after last week's website crash, for which I apologize again. I'll explain what I've been doing these past few days.
I'm starting with the Chrome browser extension. An update is on the way, but only if Google wants it. Their update approvals are so incredibly slow that I've had time to jump from version 0.4 to 0.6. To give you an idea, I uploaded version 0.6 four days ago, and as of today, I'm still seeing the "pending review" message. If this is the usual pattern with Google, I don't think I'll continue developing the extension because I don't want to risk missing a bug and waiting a week for the update to arrive. The main new feature of this update is that I've added the "box" to the GOG game pages and a tweaked the messages.
Now moving on to the website, I've focused on the small details that may seem like nothing but take a lot of work. I've restructured the search engine messages and the tooltips (the boxes that appear when you hover over the game in the listings), implemented new code for Google and Bing SEO (not something I'm losing sleep over, but worth testing), added the PlanetPlay store, made minor tweaks to the website interface, and fixed several embarrassing bugs.
And oh, a note about the IndieGala store. Unlike my rival IsThereAnyDeal, I'm going to continue showing its deals. There's a problem that's affecting all official stores, and that's the lack of keys. 2 years ago, Valve became strict with key generation to combat unofficial stores, and we're already noticing the effects. Today, official stores have a very small stock of keys in my opinion (at most, 500 keys per game), and this has also led to a lack of bundles on Humble and Fanatical. I find it unethical for IsThereAnyDeal to remove IndieGala because of this, although it's not the first questionable decision they've made since becoming a company.
